Mark Arm , real name Mark McLaughlin (born February 21, 1962 in Seattle ) is the singer and guitarist of the grunge band Mudhoney .

Musical career

The first band that Mark Arm founded was called Mr. Epp (initially also Mr. Epp and the calculations ), where he sang and played guitar with a frequently changing line-up. At the same time he occupied the position of drummer for the garage band The Limp Richerds . There he also met Steve Turner , who later joined Mr. Epp. In 1984 he and Steve Turner decided to start the band Green River . The two also hired Jeff Ament from Deranged Diction for bass and Alex Vincent from Steve Turner's second band Spluii Numa for drums. Green River, reinforced in 1985 by the guitarist Stone Gossard , soon grew to become big names in the scene alongside Soundgarden .

In late 1985, Steve Turner left the band and was replaced by Ament's former bandmate Bruce Fairweather. With Green River, Arm released the EP Dry as a bone in 1986 and the LP Rehab Doll in 1987 on the recently founded Sub Pop label .

On October 31, 1987, Arm split up in an argument with Jeff Ament because of his opinion incorrect reservations at a concert by Green River as opening act for Jane's Addiction and in 1988 formed the band Mudhoney with his former companion Steve Turner.

Between November 1987 and the beginning of 1988, as a satirical revenge against his former bandmates, he created the cover band Wasted Landlords , which blatantly alludes to the first name of Mother Love Bone , Lords of the Wastelands .

Influences

Mark Arm influenced the behavior of Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder with his absolute anti-star stance .

Private life

Poor is married. In addition to his work as a musician, he works as the warehouse manager of the Sub Pop label, the label to which Mudhoney are also under contract.
