Mark Bastl (born November 30, 1980 in Villars-sur-Ollon ) is a former Swiss - American ice hockey player who was under contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta in the National League until April 2017 . He is the brother of tennis player George Bastl .

Career

Mark Bastl began his career as an ice hockey player with the Lausanne Hockey Club , for which he made his debut in the National League B in the 1999/00 season . The attacker then went to North America , where he initially worked for Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League for a year and then for three seasons for the University of Findlay team .

As a result, the center returned to Switzerland, where he played for SC Langnau in the National League A in the 2004/05 season. The following season he spent at SC Bern in the NLA, as well as the HC Martigny from the NLB, for which he was mainly on the ice. After another year in the National League A at Friborg-Gottéron , the center was signed by the ZSC Lions in the summer of 2007 , with whom he became Swiss champions for the first time in the 2007/08 season . With this success Bastl qualified with his team for the newly founded Champions Hockey League , which Bastl won with the ZSC Lions in the 2008/09 season . In the final, the dual citizen and his team prevailed against HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk from the Continental Hockey League . In 2012 and 2014 he won two more championships with the ZSC Lions. In April 2015 Bastl signed a two-year contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta . After his contract expired in April 2017, he ended his career at the age of 36. He is currently active as a junior trainer for the GCK Lions .
