Mark Fields (2014)

Mark Fields (born January 24, 1961 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American manager. He was President and CEO of Ford Motor Company from 2014 to 2017 ; his successor is James Hackett .

Mark Fields, who grew up in Paramus , graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in economics . He also received an MBA from Harvard . Before completing his MBA, he worked for IBM for a time .

Fields began his career at Ford in 1989 and was responsible for the Argentine market from 1997. In 1999 he was appointed CEO of Mazda when the brand was part of the Ford group. He held this post until 2002. From 2002 to October 2005 he was Chairman of the Premier Automotive Group , which includes Ford's luxury segment. From October 2005 he headed the America division of the Ford company. In 2012, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the group before he succeeded Alan Mulally as President and CEO of Ford in July 2014 .

Fields is married with two sons.
