Mark Iossifowitsch Grajew

Mark Iossifowitsch Grajew ( Russian Марк Иосифович Граев , English transcription Mark Iosifovich Graev ; born November 21, 1922 in Moscow ; † April 2017 ) was a Russian mathematician .

Life

Grajew received his doctorate in 1947 at Lomonosov University under Alexander Kurosch (Free Topological Groups). He was a professor at the Institute for Systems Analysis of the Russian Academy of Sciences and at the Keldysch Institute for Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In Moscow he belonged to the circle of Israel Gelfand , with whom he wrote several books, including co-author of volumes 5 and 6 in the monograph series Generalized Functions of Gelfand on Representation Theory and Integral Geometry. In 1966 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Moscow (theory of the representation of groups, with Alexander Kirillov ).
