Mark L. Mendoza

Mark Llandro L. Mendoza (born August 28, 1973 ) is a Philippine economic manager and politician of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and currently the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), who has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2007 .

Life

Mendoza, son of the former director general of the national police PNP ( Philippine National Police ) and later Minister for Transport and Communication Leandro Mendoza , completed a degree at the University of De La Salle after attending school , which he graduated in 1994. He then worked in business and initially worked for the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation in 1994 , before becoming managing director of a solar farm in 1998 and also managing director of Fairway Cargo Movers Corporation from 1998 to 2000 . He also served temporarily as a board member of MLM Agri Industrial Corporation .

In the elections on May 14, 2007 , Mendoza was elected for the first time as a member of the House of Representatives for the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) and has since represented the constituency of Batangas 4th District in this . He succeeded Oscar Gozos , who in turn became mayor of Lipa City . In the elections on May 10, 2010 , he was re-elected with 248,891 votes (94.6 percent) and was able to prevail over the non- party , Praxedes Bustamante, who received 14,179 votes (5.4 percent). He was re-elected in the elections on May 13, 2013 with 161,131 votes (57.58 percent) and was able to prevail against the non-party candidate Bernadette Sabili, who received 103,446 votes (36.97 percent). In the current 16th legislative term , which runs from 2013 to 2016  , he is chairman of the House Committee for Agriculture and Food . He is responsible for all matters that are directly and generally related to food and agricultural production, agricultural enterprises, agriculture, agricultural research and technology, and agricultural education. The committee also deals with advisory services, soil protection, soil appraisals and research, irrigation, agricultural loans and securities, animal industry and quarantine, crop and livestock production, insurance and guarantee programs.

Mendoza earned a PhD in human sciences from Batangas State University (BSU) in 2010 , and served as past president of the Rotary International Club in Lipa City and a member of the Lions Club .

Since Mendoza has reached the maximum consecutive eligibility of nine years, he will not be allowed to run again in the upcoming elections on May 9, 2016 , and will therefore be eliminated from the House of Representatives. Instead, he is applying for the office of governor of the Batangas province and thus for the successor to the former actress Vilma "Ate Vi" Santos , who is also not allowed to run again after three consecutive terms and is instead seeking entry into the House of Representatives for the constituency Lipa advertises.
