Mark Jurjewitsch Starostin ( Russian Марк Юрьевич Старостин ; born December 23, 1990 in Zelinograd ) is a Kazakh cross-country skier .

Career

Starostin has been taking part mainly in FIS races since 2008 . At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Mals , he won bronze with the relay. He ran his first World Cup race in November 2011 in Sjusjøen , which he finished with 57th place over 15 km freestyle. In December 2012 in Canmore he achieved 21st place in the skiathlon , his best ever World Cup result. At the U23 World Championships in Liberec in 2013 , he won bronze in the 15 km skiathlon. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he finished 66th in the 15 km freestyle and 43rd place in the 15 km skiathlon. His best placings at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were 34th place in the 50 km mass start race and 13th place with the relay. In January 2015 he won silver with the relay at the 2015 Winter Universiade in Štrbské Pleso . The following month he finished 18th in the team sprint at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun .
