Mark Tokar

Mark Wassiljewitsch Tokar ( Ukrainian Марк Васильович Токарь , born March 2, 1974 in Lemberg ) is a Ukrainian jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass ).
Live and act
Tokar studied at the National Polytechnic University of Lemberg , from 2006 in Poland at the K. Szymanowski Jazz Academy with Jacek Niedzela. Since then he has been working in the field of tension between new music, improvisational music and jazz. Tokar is u. a. active in the projects Ken Vandermarks Resonance and Wacław Zimpels Undivided (with Klaus Kugel and Bobby Few ) as well as in other projects u. a. with Petras Vyšniauskas , Steve Swell , Michael Zerang , Tim Daisy , Dave Rempis , Roberta Piket , Fred Frith , Arkadi Shilkloper , Magnus Broo , Per Åke Holmlander and Mark Sanders . In 2005/06 he was artistic director of the Ukrainian-Polish Jazz Bez Festival . With Ken Vandermark and Klaus Kugel he forms the trio The Esacalators .
