Magnus Broo (* 1965 in Huskvarna ) is a Swedish jazz - trumpet .

Live and act

Magnus Broo grew up in Västervik and then lived in Visby before studying at North Texas State University from 1984 to 1990 . After returning to Sweden, he played in Fredrik Norén's band and Lennart Åberg's orchestra from 1991 to 1999 . In 1995 he worked on Jan Wallgren's album Raga, Bebop and Anything and in 1996 he worked with saxophonist Lars Gulliksson .

Broo, who is stylistically strongly based on the free jazz of Ornette Coleman's groups of the 1960s, recorded two albums with his quartet from 1999 on, which were released on Dragon Records ; Torbjörn Gulz (piano), Mattias Welin (bass) and Jonas Holgersson (drums) play in his quartet . He also worked with the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Amanda Sedgwick , the Norwegian band Atomic and, from 2000, with the Fredrik Nordström Quintet. He is a member of the Angles 9 formation around Martin Küchen and the Fire! Orchestra around Mats Gustafsson .
