The house Marktkirchhof 7-9 is a Grade II listed building in the town of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in the historic Quedlinburg old town, north of the city's market square. The building registered as a residential building in the Quedlinburg monument register is located on the south side of the Marktkirchhof. To the east is the also listed building Marktkirchhof 6 , to the west is the house Marktkirchhof 10 .

Architecture and history

The three-storey half - timbered house was built according to a building inscription in 1688 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . It was built by the council carpenter Martin Lange on behalf of the city of Quedlinburg . The inscription MARTEN LANGE ZM with two axes refers to him . The building was used to accommodate the town piper , bailiff and midwife .

At number 8 there is a portal designed as a round arch. A half-timbered bay window on the upper floor characterizes the largely original facade.
