The house Marktkirchhof 6 is a Grade II listed building in the town of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in the historic Quedlinburg old town, north of the city's market square. The building registered as a merchant's house in the Quedlinburg monument register is located on the south side of the Marktkirchhof. To the east is the also listed building Marktkirchhof 5 , to the west is the house Marktkirchhof 7–9 .

Architecture and history

The three-storey half - timbered house was built according to a building inscription in 1577 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . The richly decorated renaissance facade shows St. Andrew's crosses in the corners , an early appearance of this decorative form for Quedlinburg. The appearance of the house is in a special way through with hatch provided Zwerchhaus coined. On the threshold there are cylinder beam heads with notch-cut motifs . In addition, there is the inscription ANNO CHRISTI 1577 MERTEN HEVENER IN THE POWER OF GOD I HAVE IT GESTALT .

The ground floor is a massive construction. In the Baroque period around 1720, the doors and windows of the basement were renewed. In the building there is a historical rotating tree for pulling up loads.
