The house at Marktstraße 10 is a listed building in Wernigerode , Harz district , in Saxony-Anhalt . It is a commercial, half-timbered building that previously served as a residential building.

location

Marktstrasse 10 is located in the southern part of Wernigerode's city center, approx. 100 meters from the market square on the west side of Marktstrasse , at the corner of Teichdamm.

Architecture and history

It is a two - story half - timbered house with an attic from the 17th century. The year of construction is mentioned as 1680. On the first floor, peasant dances are built into the framework on the two outer sides of the street front .

The building used to have the location list number 679. At that time it was a residential building with an extension, courtyard and house garden as well as a stable at the back.

The owner of the building was the master coppersmith Bernhardt Borchert in 1895/1896. The oldest known owners of the previous building were representatives of the Mehler family from Wernigerode immediately after the Thirty Years' War.

The neighboring building Marktstrasse 12 to the south, which formerly housed the Wiener Hof , was completely demolished in 2009, so that the south side of the house at Marktstrasse 10 was completely free at that time. Then the building was rebuilt.

On July 1, 2019, the Marktstrasse 10 building suffered massive fire damage, but is to be rebuilt.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 25168.
