Markus Bock (born February 13, 1979 in Bamberg ) is a German sport climber .

Markus Bock started in 1985 in the nearby Northern Franconian Jura climbing area. At the age of fifteen he climbed his first path in the eighth UIAA grade with “Fight Gravity”. Two years later he was able to climb his first route in the lower eleventh degree with “Burn 4 you”. In 1997 he succeeded with “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde “his first new tour in the lower eleventh grade. In 2005 he became the eighth repeater of the classic route Action Directe, which was first started by Wolfgang Güllich .

Markus Bock succeeded in 2006 with the route Corona in difficulty 11/11 + (UIAA) in climbing region of the Franconian Switzerland , the heaviest at this time climbing route of the Northern Frankenjura. In the same year he succeeded in repeating the "Shangri-La" route and at that time he managed to climb all routes of UIAA grade 10 and harder in Franconian Switzerland . Back then there were over 170 routes. In addition to the routes in Franconian Switzerland, he also repeated difficult routes in other climbing areas, such as the route "Biographie" (8c +) in Céüse in France or "24h Party People" (8c +) in Margalef in Spain. With “Gossip” (in 2002) and “Montecore” (in 2005) he also managed two boulders with the grade Fb 8c.

Markus Bock gained notoriety primarily through his ascent on “natural rock”, but he was also able to record successes in competitive climbing: in 1995 he was both German youth champion and German runner-up in the men's category , and in 1996 he won the youth world championship in Moscow.
