Markus Elmer (born December 21, 1952 in Oberkochen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Elmer played in his youth at TSV Westhausen from Westhausen near Aalen . At the age of 19, he briefly moved to the A-youth team at VfB Stuttgart before joining the club's amateur team. In 1973 he finally signed his first professional contract and made his debut in the Bundesliga on September 15, 1973 when he was substituted on for the game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

Until 1980 he remained loyal to VfB Stuttgart, even when they played only second class from 1975 to 1977. With 11 goals in the 1976/77 season, he also had a certain share in the club's recovery. In 1980 he moved to league rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen . He played there for three more years until he ended his career in 1982. Problems with the Achilles tendon no longer allowed professional football. Ironically, his last game was the duel against VfB Stuttgart on September 25, 1982, which was lost 3-0.

Elmer then became a coach. In his home in Württemberg he worked for TSG Backnang 1919 , FC Tailfingen and Heidenheimer SB , among others .

Since 2007 he has been a trainer at SV Sinbronn and was promoted to the district class.
