Markus Fischmann

Markus Fischmann (born January 28, 1971 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) is director for animation, producer and director of the institute for digital media. As the youngest professor in Germany at the time, he was appointed to the Hanover University of Applied Sciences in 2000 and has been teaching there since then in the "Media Design Animation and VFX" course.

Life

From 1992 Markus Fischmann studied communication design with a focus on "animation" at the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg. In 1996 he graduated with the 3D short film "Frank freaks out". This film was awarded an Animago Prize . During his studies he worked as a trainer at "Softimage / Microsoft". He gained his first experience as a 3D animator and 3D art director in film and advertising productions.

He worked as animation director (director for animation) and "Head of 3D" (head of 3-D production) in various post-production houses in Hamburg. In 2001 he founded his own production company "digitalfish". During the same period, the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover appointed him as the youngest full professor at the time. In 2002 he was involved in founding the Institute for Digital Media. From 2005 to 2007 he was dean of studies in the design and media department at the University of Hanover.

This was followed by a call to Sydney, which he followed from 2008 to 2010 and headed the master's program in animation at the University of Technology, Sydney . Markus Fischmann has been involved in the media design program at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences since 2010 and became director of the Institute for Digital Media (IDM) in 2012. From 2010 to 2013 he was a visiting professor at the University of Hefei (China) in the field of "3D animation and interactivity".

In 2011 he founded the annual "Motion Cube Festival", in addition to a parallel specialist conference, and in 2015 co-founded the interdisciplinary course media design / computer science together with Faculty 4 (Computer Science) at the University of Hanover.

In 2017 Markus Fischmann was admitted to the Visual Effects Society (VES).
