Markus Grahn

Markus Grahn (born April 7, 1969 in Braunschweig ) is a German football coach and former player.

career

Grahn played from 1986 to 1993 for the Braunschweig Lions (from 1989 in the second division), he was used in the positions of wide receiver and quarterback  . As a trainer he worked in Braunschweig as an assistant trainer (responsibility for receivers and running backs as well as players with special tasks) and youth trainer. As a member of the coaching staff, he contributed to the German championship titles in Braunschweig in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and to winning the Eurobowl in 1999 and 2003. In addition, during his time in Brunswick he interned for three months at the University of Kentucky in the United States . He also worked for the association selection team of Lower Saxony .

In 2005 he moved to the coaching staff of Frankfurt Galaxy in the NFL Europe . In the playing years 2005 and 2006 he was responsible for the tight ends of the Frankfurt team, in 2007 he was responsible for the coordination of the players with special tasks and for the running backs. At the end of May 2006 Grahn won the World Bowl with Frankfurt , in June 2007 he was again in the final of the NFL Europe with the team, but this time they had to admit defeat to the Hamburg Sea Devils .

After NFL Europe had ceased its gaming operations, he worked for the newly founded Galaxy successor club Frankfurt Universe from 2007 and initially held the position of head coach until 2012. In 2011 he led Frankfurt into the second division. From 2012 to 2014 Grahn was with the Dresden Monarchs in the top German division, the GFL , responsible for the offensive line and the players with special tasks. He returned to Frankfurt Universe and led the team to the championship title in the southern season of the second division in the 2015 season. In the following GFL season, Frankfurt moved into the quarter-finals as a promoted team under Grahn's leadership. In June 2016 he led the team to victory in the EFL Bowl (35:21 against the Amsterdam Crusaders ). In June 2017 he was in the Eurobowl with Frankfurt, but had to admit defeat to the Braunschweig Lions, in the same year he led the team in the GFL to the semi-finals. In October 2017, Grahn and Frankfurt Universe separated.

For the 2020 season, Grahn became the head coach of the second division Rostock Griffins .
