Markus Hayer (born August 18, 1985 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

From 2004 to 2010 Markus Hayer played for Germania Dattenfeld and the later renamed TSV Germania Windeck . With Dattenfeld he became champion of the Middle Rhine League in 2007/08 and rose to the Oberliga Nordrhein. In 2009 he qualified with the club for the new NRW league and after a successful 2009/10 season with third place, Hayer switched to professional football for the first time in the summer of 2010 and joined the third division Kickers Offenbach . He made his debut for Offenbach on August 15, 2010, when he came on for Olivier Occéan in the 89th minute in the surprising 3-0 win in the first round of the DFB Cup against second division VfL Bochum . However, Markus Hayer was denied a regular place and he was only used in the Offenbach reserve. He made his professional debut on November 6, 2010, when he was in the starting line-up on the 15th matchday of the 3rd league in a 2-0 win against the second team of VfB Stuttgart . He also marked the goal to make it 1-0. By the end of the season, however, he only had five more missions. In his sophomore year he scored three goals in 19 games for the OFC.

For the 2012/13 season he signed a one-year contract with third-division competitor 1. FC Saarbrücken . In December 2012 he tore a cruciate ligament in training and was out for the rest of the season. After a six-month forced break, Hayer suffered another cruciate ligament tear in June 2013 in rehab. On January 31, 2014, his contract was terminated. Only five days later he was signed to Bayer 04 Leverkusen's second team , although he never played for them as he continued to suffer from a torn cruciate ligament. After a further year and a half with the Sportfreunde from Siegen in the Regionalliga West, Hayer switched to the regional division FV Wiehl 2000 in July 2015 and worked there as a playing assistant coach. In 2017 he took over the coaching position at the B-Kreisligisten VfR Marienhagen .
