Markus Hofmann (actor)

Markus Hofmann (born January 23, 1975 in Basel ) is a short Swiss actor , singer ( bass-baritone ), poet and theater producer .

Life

Despite his short stature, Hofmann learned the profession of structural draftsman, which he practiced for three years. At the same time, he trained his voice with Philipp Steiner (Basel) and Barbara Neurohr (Basel) from 1991 to 1996. In 1996 the Theater Basel engaged him for the first time, where he gave the great picolo (Lupu) in Brecht's “Baal” under the direction of Michael Heicks. In 1998 Hofmann set up his first own theater production. He himself played the main role in the play "Kleines Hotel Brockenhaus", about life with short stature.

The subject of "small size" shapes Hofmann's artistic work, he spoke on radio and television about the everyday life of small people. In a clip he supported an appeal for donations by the Swiss Pro Patria Foundation for cultural and social purposes.

Markus Hofmann attended the Stage Art Musical & Theater School SAMTS in Adliswil from 2011 to 2013; he trained in acting. Gabriela Leutwiler, Zurich, taught him speech technology from 2012 to 2013; in semester productions he played the role of M. Chouilloux in "Porzellan & Elefant" under PN Steiner and the role of the poet Treplijow under Andrea Kindt in "Die Möwe". He speaks Swiss German, High German, French and English.
