Markus Krajewski (media scientist)

Markus Krajewski (* 1972 in Olpe ) is a German cultural and media scholar. He is Professor of Media Studies at the University of Basel .

Life

From 1992 Krajewski studied modern German literature , philosophy and sociology at the University of Cologne . In 1996 he moved to the Humboldt University in Berlin . After completing his master's degree in cultural studies and modern German literature in 2000, he initially worked as a freelance author and software developer. In 2001 he got a position as a research assistant at the Hermann von Helmholtz Center for Cultural Technology . In 2002 he moved to the Bauhaus University Weimar , where he obtained a Dr. phil. received his doctorate .

In 2008 he was appointed to the junior professorship for media history there. After a one-year research stay at the Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard University and a visiting professorship at the Department of the History of Science there in 2008/2009 , he completed his habilitation in 2011. In 2013, he was visiting professor at Leuphana University Lüneburg .

Krajewski has been Professor of Media Studies with a focus on media theory and media history at the University of Basel since 2014.
