Bernhard Siegert
Bernhard Siegert (born December 20, 1959 in Bremen ) is a German media historian and media theorist .
Life
Siegert studied German literature , philosophy and history at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg from 1979 to 1987 and received his doctorate in 1991 from the Ruhr-University Bochum .
Since 2001 he has been a professor and holder of the chair in the history and theory of cultural techniques at the Bauhaus University Weimar .
He's with Friedrich Kittler , Norbert Bolz , Georg Christoph Tholen , Peter Weibel , Wolfgang Coy , Claus Pias , Sybille Krämer and Wolfgang Ernst one of the pioneers of the German cultural studies dominated media studies .
Since 2008, Siegert and Lorenz Engell have been the director of the International College for Cultural Technology Research and Media Philosophy (IKKM) in Weimar .
