Career

Markus "Blitz" Lindemann, who grew up in Arosa, went through his junior career at EHC Arosa . He owed his nickname to his extremely fast-paced style of play for the conditions at the time. In 1969 the talented center played for the first time together with his older brother Hanspeter in the first team. In the following years he became more and more become a supporting pillar of the club with which he 1973 in the National League B and - after a one-year detour 1974/75 for EHC Kloten 1977 in the - National League A rising.

Lindemann's most successful years in sport followed: As a strike partner of Jöri Mattli and brother Guido Lindemann , he won the championship title with the EHC Arosa in 1980 and 1982 . In addition, he was second in the Swiss championship with the EHC Arosa in 1981. In 218 National League A games, Lindemann scored 149 goals. He also played 49 international matches and various world championships with the national team . Participation in the 1980 Olympic ice hockey tournament in Lake Placid was denied to the Swiss team - and thus Markus Lindemann too - due to a formal error by the Swiss Ice Hockey Association (SEHV).

After retiring from top-class sports in 1983, Lindemann played hockey for a few years in the 1st league at what was then SC Mittelrheintal and HC Thurgau , with which he again, after the voluntary relegation of EHC Arosa to the 1st league in 1986, against his brother again Guido played.
