Markus Spieker (* 1970 in Duisburg ) is an author , journalist , doctor of history and was an ARD correspondent in Berlin . Between 2014 and 2018 he headed the ARD studio in New Delhi and was the correspondent for South Asia . Since his return to Germany he has been working for the MDR in Leipzig.

He studied in Giessen and Los Angeles . In his dissertation Hollywood under the swastika. The American feature film in the Third Reich dealt with Markus Spieker's national socialist film policy regarding the importation of Hollywood productions. His numerous books are dedicated to different subject areas, whereby his concern is always to shed light on them from a critical, challenging Christian perspective. For example, he criticizes charismatic star preachers and superficial piety.

Spieker is married to the media scientist and author Tabitha Bühne.
