Markus Thormeyer
Markus Thormeyer (born August 25, 1997 in Newmarket , Ontario ) is a Canadian swimmer . He is part of the Olympic team of Canada.
Live and act
Thormeyer has been a swimmer since he was eight. At the age of twelve he took part in a first international competition for Canada. Thormeyer is a member of the Canadian Swimming Olympic Team, with which he participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio . His preferred styles are backstroke and participation in the 4-by-100-meter freestyle relay.
In 2020 Thormeyer came out as homosexual. He studied environmental science at the University of British Colombia and lives in Vancouver .
successes
- 2nd place with the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Pan American Games 2015 .
- 7th place at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with the 4 x 100 meter relay.
- 3rd place (bronze) at the World Championships in Budapest 2017 with the 4 x 100 meter relay.
- 3rd place (bronze) at the Commonwealth Games 2018 in the backstroke.
He was named Sport BC Junior Athlete of the Year in 2016 and was Canada's Swimmer of the Year in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he set a new national record in the backstroke.
