Markus W. Kropp

Markus W. Kropp (born February 5, 1973 in Düsseldorf ) is a German pianist and composer .

Career

Kropp had been taking piano lessons since he was seven and gave his first concerts with works by Bach , Chatschaturjan , Mussorgsky and others at the age of 10.

After ten years of piano lessons and parallel to his studies, Markus W. Kropps wrote his first composition, the 9 small variations . During his studies in 1997 he won third prize in the nationwide competition in Chemnitz, majoring in piano. As a result, he gave a guest appearance in Nuremberg. A master class at the Russian School with Vitaly Margulis rounded off his training as a concert pianist.

Other piano concerts followed, including a. the performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue for piano and orchestra at the University of Cologne .

From 2001 to 2003 Kropp directed the event series The Piano Experience at ARTheater (Cologne) , during which he appeared as a composer and pianist with "classical piano music as a bar sound". The first piano works were published in 2009 by Verlag Neue Musik .

Kropp regularly gives solo concerts, among other things in the concert series "5 to 12" in Dormagen , Sunday music in St. Aposteln in Cologne and performances in other German cities.
