Markus Wingenbach (born November 26, 1978 in Diez ) is a former German football referee .

Markus Wingenbach was referee for VfL Altendiez and from 2005 to 2015 DFB referee. Since 2007 he has been used as a referee in the 2nd Bundesliga . He was also used as an assistant referee in the Bundesliga.

During the 2009/10 season Wingenbach was nominated as a referee for the Bundesliga.

He made his debut on February 20, 2010 in the game between Hamburger SV and Eintracht Frankfurt .

At the meeting of the referee committee chaired by Herbert Fandel , it was decided in May 2012 that he will no longer be used in the 1st Bundesliga from the 2012/2013 season.

After the 2014/2015 season, he announced his resignation as referee.

Wingenbach is self-employed and lives in Mainz .
