Marlborough is an Australian small town in Rockhampton Region ( LGA ) in Queensland . It is located about 100 kilometers north of Rockhampton and 740 km north of Brisbane , right on the Bruce Highway , a section of National Highway 1 .
The town was founded in 1856 as a service station and pub, and was relocated in 1917 due to the expansion of rail traffic. The main attraction of the city is the Marlborough Historical Museum, which Martin Hennessy built with his own funds.
