Marlies Bänziger

Marlies Bänziger (born March 14, 1960 in Winterthur , resident in Heiden , Schüpfen and Winterthur) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

Life

Bänziger grew up in Oberembrach and moved to Winterthur in 1980. She completed her training as a teacher and was elected to the parliament of the municipality of Winterthur in May 1990. From 1997 to 2009 she was a district councilor. From 2000 to February 2005, Bänziger was on the Constitutional Council of the Canton of Zurich .

Bänziger was Co-President from June 2004 to January 2008, then President of the Green Party of the Canton of Zurich until November 2008. She was elected to the National Council in the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2007 and had a seat there until the 2011 elections . Bänziger was a member of the Finance Commission in the Grand Chamber and belonged to the EFTA delegation . In November 2008 Bänziger was elected President of the SSF (Swiss Association for Protection against Aircraft Emissions) and in September 2009 President of Pedestrian Traffic Switzerland .
