Marlis Tepe (born April 1, 1954 in Bad Segeberg ) has been federal chairwoman of the Education and Science Union since June 13, 2013 .

Marlis Tepe is a trained primary and secondary school teacher and taught in Schleswig-Holstein from 1979 to June 2013 .

Tepe has represented the GEW Schleswig-Holstein in the Federal Women's Committee (BFA) since 1983 and was also on the BFA executive team at the beginning of the 1990s. In this function, Tepe was a member of the main board. During the same period, Tepe was active in the Federal Women's Committee of the German Federation of Trade Unions .

Tepe was active on the executive board of the GEW Schleswig-Holstein from 1995 until her election as federal chairwoman. Her fields of work included the areas of members and advertising, teacher training, elementary school, women's and senior policy.

Tepe has been a member of the main teaching staff council since 1999 and has been its chairman since 2006. In the working group of all main staff councils, which Tepe has headed since September 2012, she represented all public service employees vis-à-vis the state government.

Marlis Tepe is divorced and lives with her partner in Hüttblek , Segeberg district .
