Marreese Speights (born August 4, 1987 in Saint Petersburg , Florida ) is an American basketball player. He currently plays in the positions of power forward or center in the NBA for the Orlando Magic .

Career

In the 2008 NBA draft , the Philadelphia 76ers selected him in 16th place. In the first two years he came to an average of 16 minutes playing time per game. In the third year he only plays 11.5 minutes on average.

On January 4, 2012, he moved to the Memphis Grizzlies in a transfer involving the New Orleans Hornets . The Grizzlies gave Xavier Henry and a second-round draft pick. In his first season in Memphis Speights was regularly on the grid for the first time.

On January 22, 2013 Speights was transferred from the Grizzlies to the Cleveland Cavaliers within a trade . In return, forward Jon Leuer moved to Memphis.

Speights has been playing for the Golden State Warriors since the 2013/14 season, with whom he won the title in the 2014/15 season. Due to an injury, however, he missed a large part of the playoffs and came in the finals only to three short appearances in which he was able to record an average of 3 points and 1.7 rebounds.
