Xavier Henry (born March 15, 1991 in Ghent , Belgium ) is an American basketball player who was last under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA . He is currently under contract with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA Development League D-League .

college

Henry was considered one of the country's greatest talents during his high school years. First he agreed to the University of Memphis , after their head coach John Calipari left the team, Henry announced his move to the University of Kansas . In his first game for Jayhawks, Henry broke the record for most points for a freshman in the first game with 27 points . After just a year, Henry decided to quit college and enroll in the NBA draft .

NBA

In the 2010 NBA Draft , Henry was selected 12th by the Memphis Grizzlies . However, he could not establish himself in Memphis and was transferred to the New Orleans Hornets after a year . Even with the Hornets, he did not manage to play in the rotation, so that he had to leave New Orleans after two years. On September 5, 2013, Henry signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers . In his first game, Henry set a career record with 22 points, helping the Lakers to a 116: 103 over the Los Angeles Clippers . Due to injuries, Henry only played 43 games, scoring 10 points per game. Henry was released from the Lakers on December 28, 2014.
