The St. Michaelisdonn – Friedrichskoog III (Marschenbahn) railway was originally a 21-kilometer single-track railway in Schleswig-Holstein . It branches off at the Marschbahn in St. Michaelisdonn and is still used as a draisine route between Marne and St. Michaelisdonn.

history

Starting with the Marschbahn, the Holsteinische Marschbahngesellschaft built an access route from St. Michaelisdonn to Marne. It was opened on December 15, 1880. On October 1, 1884, it was extended from Marne to Friedrichskoog (named after the Danish King Friedrich VII , initially Friedrich VII Koog ), and on October 17, two branch lines were added to the loading points Kronprinzenkoog Süd and Norderfleth. Passenger traffic between Marne and Friedrichskoog was only carried out from October 1, 1898.

On July 1, 1890 in on 1 January 1888 Schleswig-Holstein Marsh Railway Company renamed Holstein Marschbahn company nationalized. The branch line to Norderfleth was closed on August 1, 1927, but the branch line to the Kronprinzenkoog was extended on September 15, 1930 to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog and on September 1, 1931 to the Neufelderkoog . Freight traffic was not permanent here. On May 26, 1962, traffic between Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog and Neufelderkoog was stopped, and on October 29, 1967, traffic between Kronprinzenkoog (center) and Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog was stopped. For many years there were six to eight pairs of passenger trains between St. Michaelisdonn and Marne and three pairs of passenger trains between Marne and Friedrichskoog. Until recently, goods traffic was predominantly agricultural, the warehouses of the agricultural trade were supplied and agricultural products were dispatched.

The passenger traffic Marne – Friedrichskoog III was discontinued on September 1, 1954, St. Michaelisdonn – Marne on May 27, 1961. Freight trains could run until October 29, 1967 according to Kaiser-Wilhelm Koog. Freight traffic between Kronprinzenkoog Nord and Friedrichskoog was possible until September 30, 1978. Freight traffic on the Marne – Kronprinzenkoog Nord line, which was recently downgraded to the station track, ran until January 1, 1984. Freight traffic on St. Michaelisdonn – Marne continued until July 31, 1994; it was shut down on December 1, 1994 Summer on the St. Michaelisdonn – Marne route the Marschenbahn Draisine , a draisine train , the section from Marne to Friedrichskoog was dismantled.
