Neufelderkoog is a municipality in the Dithmarschen district in Schleswig-Holstein .

geography

location

The community forms the extreme southwestern tip of the Dithmarschen district, the dike line of the Kooges is the last north bank of the Elbe confluence with the North Sea . There are still salt marshes in the municipality.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring communities are the communities Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog , Kronprinzenkoog and Neufeld as well as the city of Brunsbüttel (all in the Dithmarschen district), starting clockwise in the northwest .

history

The Koog was diked in the years 1923 to 1925 by a dyke construction cooperative. It was initially part of the Marner Vorland estate , which was dissolved in 1928. Since then Neufelderkoog has been an independent municipality.

The foreland of the Neufelderkoog is the only remaining breeding area of ​​the salmon tern in northwest Europe.

Since the municipal elections in 2013, the KWV voter community has all seven seats in the municipal council.

economy

Neufelderkoog is strongly characterized by agriculture. Wind turbines determine large parts of the landscape.
