coat of arms
Blazon : "In green between two lying golden oak leaves, one turned to the left at the top and one turned to the right at the bottom, a lying, concave at the front, convexly curved at the back and broken in the middle."
The content of the coat of arms of the municipality of Frestedt is mainly tailored to the particular topographical location of the place. The village is crossed by a ditch that separates the districts of Weddel and Frestedt from each other. The gap in the corrugated beam indicates this separation and at the same time indicates the existing bridge, which in turn connects the parts of the community again. The special shape of the wave bar is also an indication of the landscape of the village between hills and lowlands. The oak leaves not only stand for the two districts mentioned above, but also for the former wealth of oak forests in the municipality on the Süddithmarscher Geest .
economy
The village is predominantly agricultural. As a second source of income, some Frestedt farmers use photovoltaics , so that the municipality has one of the highest per capita feed-in quotas in Germany into the E.ON Hanse network . In the 2007/08 season, the community achieved second place in the German Solar League .
