Location of the municipality of Averlak in the Dithmarschen district | ||
Averlak is a municipality in the south of the Dithmarschen district in Schleswig-Holstein . The municipality consists only of the place Averlak.
geography
location
Averlak is on the border with Steinburg district . This is partly formed by the Kiel Canal .
Neighboring communities
Neighboring communities are the communities of Kuden (in the district of Dithmarschen), Kudensee (in the district of Steinburg ) and the town of Brunsbüttel and the community of Eddelak (both in turn in the district of Dithmarschen), starting in the north .
history
The silt and quicksand that arose during the construction of the Brunsbüttel ports and locks and which were first washed up in Averlak in 1920 also had a decisive influence on the development of the former farming village . Because only a narrow corner of the spit hook of the post-glacial coastline with the former cliff (Klev) and the up to five meters thick dune chains (Donn) still extends into the municipality. The moor joins to the east and the wet marsh to the west . The limited building site is still reflected in the image of the settlement today. Almost all the houses were built directly on the three kilometer long village road, which lies on a strip of earth, the Aver de Lake ("above the water") and gave the village its name.
On April 1, 1934, the parish land parish Eddelak was dissolved. All of their villages, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Averlak.
politics
Community representation
Since the local elections in 2018, the UWA electoral community has all nine seats in the municipal council.
coat of arms
Blazon : “Above a silver corrugated shield base covered with three blue wave threads, the green silhouette of a hill with two gabled houses; above two crossed blue spades. "
The silhouette depicted in the coat of arms refers to the typical landscape of Averlak. The three blue wave threads in the base of the shield are a reference to the North Sea , the Kiel Canal and the Kudensee . The crossed blue spades indicate a tool that used to be very common in this landscape, which in the past was used to build dikes , dig trenches, cut peat and farm in the municipality of Averlak .
