coat of arms

Blazon : “ Divided by silver and green in a wave cut. Above a green articulated harp , below a golden peasant's stick in the shape of an octagonal forged iron rod terminating with tapered buttons, through the front end of which a ring is drawn. "

The wave bar stands for Gieselau, which has largely disappeared in the Kiel Canal today, and the other waters that almost surround the municipality. The articulated harp points to the stately row of these old agricultural facilities in the vicinity of which only a few examples are preserved today. They urged for conservation and, with the tribe is the old village, with the branches of the costs incurred only since the 18th century expulsions Hinrichshörn, dam Knöll, Eckhorst, Heinke Struck and North Heath. Offenbütteler Moor

The approximately 350 hectare Offenbütteler Moor is located in the municipalities of Offenbüttel and Osterrade, which was watered and renatured by the moor protection program of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Moors provide habitat for many rare and endangered species and serve as carbon stores and thus also for climate protection. In the course of the moor renaturation, paths and bridges were also built.

Through the Offenbütteler Moor you can explore nature on foot, by bike or on horseback. Guided carriage rides through the moor are also offered.
