Schmedeswurth is a municipality in the Dithmarschen district in Schleswig-Holstein .
geography
Geographical location
The place is a pure marshland and area community in southern Dithmarschen . It is located between Marne and Brunsbüttel on federal highway 5 .

The districts of Auenbüttel, Ostermenghusen, Schmedeswurth, Schmedeswurtherwesterdeich and Westermenghusen belong to the community.
history
The name probably originated from the “Wurth” ( terp ) of a “ blacksmith ”. The municipality is an area municipality and has an agricultural structure; its size changed several times over time.
On April 1, 1934, the parish of Marne was dissolved. All of their village communities, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Schmedeswurth.
