Hövede is a municipality in the northeast of the Dithmarschen district in Schleswig-Holstein . Breitenberg is located in the municipality.

geography

Hövede is located in the northeast of Dithmarschen between Pahlen and Tellingstedt . The community is located in the largest wetland area in Schleswig-Holstein, the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowland.

Neighboring communities

Neighboring communities are the communities Pahlen , Dörpling , Tellingstedt and Schalkholz (all in the Dithmarschen district), starting clockwise in the northwest .

history

Hövede was first mentioned in 1329 as van Hovede , which is probably derived from "Hövet" for "main" and often means a source or a projection.

On April 1, 1934, the parish Tellingstedt was dissolved. All of their villages, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Hövede.

politics

The community has less than 70 inhabitants and therefore a community assembly instead of a community council, according to Section 54 of the Schleswig-Holstein municipal code. The community assembly includes all residents of the community who are eligible to vote.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community lives mainly from agriculture. In the village there is a farm shop and a pottery that sells its products throughout Germany.

For the infrastructure, Hövede is geared towards Tellingstedt , three kilometers away . There are shops, doctors, schools and kindergartens. There is no grammar school in either town.

Attractions

The Breitenberg, a 40 meter high elevation with two oak- covered burial mounds, is a popular destination for cycling trips, as it offers a wide view of parts of the Norderdithmarscher Geest . Another attraction is the Höveder pottery.

traffic

County road 46 runs through the village of Hövede and connects the larger neighboring communities of Hövedes, Pahlen, Dörpling and Tellingstedt.
