Next to Neufeld are Fahrstedteraltendeich, Kattrepel, Kattrepelerfeld, Marner Neuenkoogsdeich and Ohlen in the municipality.

Neighboring communities starting clockwise in the north are the community of Marnerdeich , the city of Marne , the communities of Diekhusen-Fahrstedt , Schmedeswurth and Ramhusen , the city of Brunsbüttel and the communities of Neufelderkoog and Kronprinzenkoog (all in the district of Dithmarschen).

history

The municipality used to be completely in the North Sea. An initial securing of the eastern municipal area (today's districts of Kattrepel and Ohlen) was carried out with a dike as part of the Golden Ring . Further embankments in the municipality were the Kattrepeler Westerdeich, the Fahrstedter Altendeich and the embankment of the Marner Neuen Kooges (1608), where later the new town center around the fishing port was built.

Today's community was created on January 1, 1970 through the merger of the Kattrepel and Marner Neuenkoogsdeich communities that belonged to the Marne parish until March 31, 1934 and were then independent. Until the name of the municipality of Kattrepel was set on April 1, 1958, the common name of the municipality was temporarily also Kattrepel-Kattrepelerdeich.

Nazi meeting "stock exchange"

Between December 2006 and May 2007, the Neufeld community hit the headlines for Nazi concerts. The former restaurant “Zur Börse” had been rented by a neo-Nazi and was also used as a meeting place for the Dithmarsch neo-Nazi scene. The last Nazi concert on May 5, 2007 was broken up by the police. The community bought the dilapidated building at the end of 2008 and had it demolished.

Of the nine seats in the municipal council has Wählergemeinschaft ADW three seats, the voter community FWV three and the voter community KWV three seats.

The ears of wheat in the coat of arms created in 1996 symbolize the three original settlements and the importance of agriculture. Boats and water represent the port and the Elbe.

A bird shooting event takes place in the village every year .

Attractions

The old Immanuell windmill is one of the most impressive in Dithmarschen. It was built in Marne in 1845 and was moved to Marner Neuenkoogsdeich in 1983 to save it from demolition.

Economy and Infrastructure

Neufeld, located directly on the Elbe , was an important port for the region until the construction of the railway to Dithmarschen with the Hochdonn high bridge and the expansion of the roads. However, this decreased due to the better development of the overland route and later due to increasing silt in the port and in the river bed near the port. In Dithmarscher Landesmuseum in Meldorf an impressive painting of the port depends from its heyday.

The port of Neufelder has been closed as a public port since 1970 and is only used as a port for a few sports boats . Today it is run by an association. The place can be reached via the federal road 5 or via the train station in Sankt Michaelisdonn .

economy

Neufeld is dominated by agriculture. Due to its location near the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe, tourism is another mainstay of the community. The "Marner Neuenkoogsdeich" and "Kattrepel" wind farms are located in the municipality.
