history

On the parish grounds there is a rampart built around 800 , of which the substructure sunk in the moor and a meadow area are still preserved. The place itself was first mentioned at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries.

It is located directly on the edge of the Geest in a valley basin on the Klev ( cliff ), the former coastline of the North Sea . In the village there are still several farmhouses built in the 19th century and a school built in 1913 in the style of the homeland security movement. A meeting house has been located there since 1969.

On April 1, 1934, the parish of Burg was dissolved. All of their village communities, village communities and peasant communities became independent communities / rural communities, including Kuden.

At the Klev there is a viewing platform that allows a view over the Kudensee and the Burger Au .

coat of arms

Blazon : “Divided by gold and blue in a beveled cut. At the top a green ear of corn and a green walking stick crossed at an angle, at the bottom a silver castle with an open gate consisting of a palisade circle. "

The municipality of Kuden is located in the landscape between the sandy geest and the marshland near the groundwater. The coat of arms colors gold and blue refer to this settlement geographic basis. Two of the three heraldic figures appear in an unusual selection and combination. The walking stick, which is crossed with the grain ear symbolizing the importance of agriculture, is derived from an orally transmitted, locally widespread legend according to which a man who had set out on a journey could no longer find his home village and its inhabitants after his return. An epidemic had carried them off, the houses were destroyed. The man then settled in the Kuden area and became the first inhabitant of this place. The palisade castle in the shield base indicates a possibly early medieval building that was examined more closely during excavations in 1994 without precise results. The knowledge of a "castle complex" had been widespread among the population for a long time, as fossil woods were regularly encountered during earthworks.
