The Marseille-Kaserne is a barracks of the Bundeswehr in Appen in the Pinneberg district , Schleswig-Holstein . It was built from 1935 and was named “Marseille-Kaserne” in 1975, named after the German fighter pilot Hans-Joachim Marseille .
The barracks are located on parts of the site of the former Uetersen air base, north of today's airfield, on Appener Hauptstrasse .
history
The troop accommodation at Uetersen Air Base was renamed Marseille Barracks in October 1975. Today's barracks, separated from today's Uetersen airfield, uses parts of the former barracks of the air base. The Air Force Training Regiment 1 carried out basic training for various areas of use. On July 4, 1988, the Air Force NCO School was set up in the barracks. In 1995 the Air Force Museum , which until then was also located on the site, was relocated to the former Berlin-Gatow airfield . As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , according to the stationing concept 2011 , the number of posts at the Appen location is to be reduced from 500 to 350.

Exhibits
A Lockheed F-104 Starfighter and two Hawk launchers are still on the site of the barracks after the Aviation Museum has left.
