The Air Force NCO school was set up on May 1, 1964 in Gürzenich near Düren. In October 1964, about ten percent of specially selected NCOs began training. Most of the NCOs were trained in the Luftwaffe units.

In July 1971, the Air Force NCO school was relocated from Gürzenich to Iserlohn , where it was dissolved in October 1971 and merged with the Air Force Force School to form the Air Force Technical College . The NCO training was then carried out exclusively in the NCO teaching and security units of the associations.

In 1988 the Air Force NCO School was re-established in the Marseille barracks in Appen. The training took place at different locations at different locations at times.

From August 1990 to 2002 the Luftwaffe sergeant training was carried out in the Eggerstedt barracks in Pinneberg . The teaching group of the Luftwaffe's NCO school has been reclassified; since 2006, Air Force personnel have also been trained centrally as personnel sergeants, accounting officers and classified information administrators at the Bundeswehr School for Military Police and Staff Service .
