Marshall Vente

Marshall Vente (* around 1955) is an American jazz musician ( piano , organ , arrangement , composition ) and band leader who also worked as a radio presenter and festival promoter in his hometown of Chicago.

Live and act

Marshall, who was a student of Gil Evans , worked in the Chicago jazz scene from the 1970s. I.a. He led his own big band and from 1981 to 2000 the nonet Project Nine , whose music incorporated Brazilian music, bop, modern swing and Chicago blues . Long-time peers include Rich Corpolongo , Eldee Young, and Steve Berry . In later years he worked alongside his octet Tropicale as well as with singers and in duo or trio constellations. a. with Joanie Pallatto . In the field of jazz he was involved in 23 recording sessions between 1981 and 2008. Vente has hosted the radio show Jazz Tropicale on the Public Radio of the College of DuPage since 1992 and organized an annual Marshall Vente Jazz Festival in the 1990s and 2000s .
