Marsupella aquatica is a species of moss of the order Jungermanniales .
features
The stems are two to ten centimeters long. They form green to black-green, shiny lawns. The leaves are boat-shaped, spread out they are circular, slightly wider than long. On an eighth of the leaf length they are divided into two blunt-pointed lobes. In the middle of the leaf, the lamina cells are 25 × 40 micrometers in size, their corners are knotty and thickened. The rear edge of the leaf is rolled up narrowly. Each cell contains two to three oil bodies . Sporogons are seldom formed.
Distribution and locations
The species occurs in Europe and North America. In Germany it can be found in the higher low mountain ranges. It grows on constantly wet, lime-free rocks and stones along streams.
