Marsupella sprucei is a species of moss of the order Jungermanniales .
features
The plants grow in green to black-brown lawns that are up to five millimeters high. The leaves are loosely placed and boat-shaped. They become larger towards the tip of the stem. Spread out, they are broadly ovoid. On a fifth to third of the length they are divided into two blunt-pointed lobes. In the middle of the leaf, the cells are 15 × 20 to 25 micrometers in size, their corners are slightly thickened. Each cell contains two oil bodies . A perianth is available.
Distribution and locations
The species is distributed bipolar boreal-montane. It occurs in Argentina and New Zealand, among others. In Germany it is found scattered in the Alps, very rarely in the low mountain ranges. The moss grows on lime-free rock in damp locations as well as on solid earth.
