Marten van den Berg

Marten Cornelis van den Berg (born October 19, 1961 in The Hague ) is a Dutch diplomat . He has been the Dutch ambassador to India since 2018 .

Life

From 1974 to 1980 he attended the Haags Montessori Lyceum. From 1980 to 1987 he studied economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam . He attended courses in public administration at the University of Maryland, College Park and in 2000 at Harvard Kennedy School .

Diplomatic career

From 1988 to 1991 he worked for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Moving to the Dutch Foreign Ministry , he was economic attaché at the embassy in Washington from 2001 to 2004 . After this foreign assignment, he returned to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, where he was Director General of the Department for International Economic Relations from 2004 to 2012. From 2012 to 2018 he headed the department of the same name in the Foreign Ministry. Marten van den Berg coordinated the chairmanship of the OECD Ministerial Council in Paris in 2015 , which was chaired by the Netherlands.

Since 2018 he has succeeded Fons Stoelinga as the Dutch ambassador in New Delhi . Marten van den Berg is co-accredited for Nepal and Bhutan .
