The shipping company Martime - Society for maritime services mbH is a shipping company based in Elsfleth .

history

The company was on 15 December 1994 by four partners through transfer of operations from 1969 by Horst Werner Janssen founded container shipping company HW Janssen GmbH founded. The Meerbuscher Gebab subsidiary P & P finanzvermittlungs GmbH and the Emder Thyssen-Nordseewerke subsidiary Innovative Meerestechnik GmbH each took over 35% of the shares, another 20% remained with the container shipping company HW Janssen GmbH and 10% was taken over by the Martime managing director Günther Elchlepp. By 2005, Martime's fleet had grown to 24 container ships , gas and chemical tankers . After the shipping company had to deal with a difficult market environment due to the shipping crisis that began in 2008, Gebab AG increased its stake in 2009 from 35% through a subsidiary to a majority of 52.5%. The remaining 47.5% was held by Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM), a Cypriot subsidiary of the Schoeller Group.

In its prime, the company operated a fleet of around 39 ships; in 2009 it still looked after more than 30 ships - mostly medium-sized container ships - and employed 36 land workers and around a thousand seafarers on the Martime ships. By 2016 the fleet had decreased to 16 units. After financial losses in the years 2012 to 2014 and again in 2016, the company's operations were relocated to Buxtehude in 2016 . In 2018, the previously independently managed subsidiaries MarChart GmbH , Corona Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH , Concordia Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft mbH and Elscrew GmbH were merged with Martime.
