Martin Daum

Martin Daum (born October 28, 1959 in Karlsruhe ) is a German manager and has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG since March 1, 2017 . He is responsible for the Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses divisions .

Life

education and study

After graduating from high school in 1978, Daum completed an apprenticeship as a banker. From 1980 to 1985 he studied business administration at the University of Mannheim and graduated with a diploma .

Entry into the Daimler group

After initial professional experience as a management consultant, Daum began his career in the Daimler Group in 1987 when he joined the junior research group at what was then Daimler-Benz AG. From 1996 he held various management positions in the areas of controlling, finance and strategy.

From 2002 to 2009 Daum was a member of the management of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. During this period he was Director Controlling Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Vice President Product Division Unimog and Special Vehicles and from 2006 Vice President Production Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Daimler Trucks North America

In June 2009, Daum became President and CEO of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). There he was responsible for the management and strategy of Daimler Trucks North America LLC and the subsidiaries Freightliner Trucks, Western Star Trucks, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, Detroit Diesel Corporation and Axle Alliance Company.

Under Daum's leadership, DTNA increased its market share from 29.6% (2009) to 39.3% (2016).

Since March 1, 2017, Daum has been a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of the Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses divisions .
