The Association des Constructeurs Européens d'Automobiles ( ACEA ), the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers , emerged in February 1991 from its predecessor, the Comité des Constructeurs du Marché Commun (CCMC), which was founded in October 1972. The head office of the association is in Brussels . In 1995 he opened an office in Tokyo and in 2004 one in Beijing . Another office is located in Seoul .

As a lobby association, it represents 14 major European automobile manufacturers :

Associated are the local associations of the automotive industry in all EU countries (with the exception of Luxembourg , Malta , Slovenia and Cyprus ). B. in Germany the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

The chairmanship rotates among French, Italian and German manufacturers.
