Louis Schweitzer (born July 8, 1942 in Geneva ) is a French manager of the Renault auto company .

After attending the Parisian elite universities Sciences Po and ENSAE ParisTech ( École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique ), Schweitzer worked in political administration as an inspector of finances from 1970 to 1981. Until 1986 he worked for the head of cabinet Laurent Fabius . From 1986 he worked for the state-owned company Renault, where in 1992 he took over the chairmanship of Raymond Levy , who had previously successfully restructured the company.

During his tenure, the Renault-Nissan Alliance took place in 1999 . In 2005 he handed over the chairmanship to Carlos Ghosn .

He was found guilty in 2002 of monitoring Jean-Edern Hallier's phone as part of a special unit at the Elysée Palace and was fined. The Court of Cassation upheld his conviction in 2008.

Schweitzer is related to the well-known jungle doctor Albert Schweitzer .
