Jean-Edern Hallier
Jean-Edern Hallier (born March 1, 1936 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye , † January 12, 1997 in Deauville ) was a French writer and journalist.
Life
Hallier was born on March 1, 1936, the son of the Franco-Hungarian general André Hallier (1892–1988) into a wealthy family. He studied in Paris and Oxford . Together with Philippe Sollers , he founded the literary-critical movement Tel Quel and the magazine of the same name in 1960 .
In 1963 he published his first novel Les aventures d'une jeune fille (German The adventures of a young girl). He was editor of the satirical magazine L'Idiot international .
As editor, Hallier was instrumental in the dispute between the classic positions of the fascist right and the communist left in France. He was considered a political provocateur and often moved between satire , fantasy and reality in his actions . However, some of his statements, taken as provocations, turned out to be real in retrospect, such as the existence of Mitterrand's illegitimate daughter Mazarine and the eavesdropping on Jacques Chirac by the Elysée .
He died on January 12, 1997 in Deauville after falling on a bicycle.
