Martin Ebell
Carl Wilhelm Ludwig Martin Ebell (born April 29, 1871 in Neuruppin ; † November 28, 1944 there ) was a German astronomer .
Life
Ebell was an assistant at the meteorological institute in Berlin from 1895 to 1896. He then worked at the observatory in Strasbourg from 1897 to 1901. Ebell was the first to calculate the orbit of Comet 97P / Metcalf-Brewington in 1906.
He became known in his position as an assistant at the Astronomische Nachrichten in Kiel since 1892. He left in 1938 together with the publisher Hermann Kobold . After leaving, he moved back to Neuruppin.
The asteroid (1205) Ebella , discovered by Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth in 1931, was named after Ebell, while the asteroid (1443) Ruppina , also discovered by Reinmuth in 1937, was named after Ebell's hometown Neuruppin.
